Since our inception in 1980, Kittens, Inc. is still focusing the majority of our resources on helping senior citizens care for and feed their cats. We also participate in trap/neuter/release programs in Dallas (I'm personally trying to trap a calico with three kittens and two adult males in my neighborhood); and very recently, I've bottle fed fourteen orphan kittens (they're thriving and have all gone on to new homes!). And we still have over thirty permanent residents who, for various reasons--age, illness, behavior problems--remain under the immediate care of Kittens, Inc. Kitten season seems to have lasted longer than usual this year, and we even now receive calls asking for help for cats displaced by the hurricanes in 2005, and we anticipate even more during the 2006 hurricane season. Once again, over the last few years, we have fed, spayed, neutered, vaccinated and doctored more and more cats and kittens. We've provided prescriptions, cleaned and pulled teeth, treated skin allergies, and treated for fleas. We've also distributed thousands of pounds of wet food and dry food, litter, litter pans, scoops, scratching posts, catnip mice, ping pong balls and cardboard fortresses. And last, but not least, we've done our best to provide moral support to their humans, many of whom are on fixed incomes, some of whom depend solely on Social Security. All the hard work, the frustrations and the money worries fade away when we see the love and happiness we are able to bring into the lives of both these cats and kittens and their owners. We feel very fortunate that we have accomplished as much as we have.
Once again, we have stretched our dollars until they have snapped. Our bank account is covered in red ink and we are down to only pennies. To say the cupboard is bare is an understatement. The many requests for help with vet bills, food and litter and all the other things that little cats need keep coming in and grow more enormous every year, so we're turning to all of our wonderful friends and asking for your help and support. Contributions to Kittens, Inc. are fully tax-deductible under I.R.S. Section 501(c)(3), and 100% of our revenue is used for the care of the cats. All administrative services, including web design and maintenance, and all supplies are donated by caring individuals. By making a donation, you can help us continue this work, you will help us care for more homeless cats and kittens, you will help us to save even more lives. It is most appreciated, not only by all of us at Kittens, Inc., but by all the cats and people we help. You can donate to us directly through our web site by clicking here--all web donations are handled by PayPal--or by sending your donation to Kittens, Inc., P. O. Box 38282, Dallas, TX 75238-0282.
